Posted - 11/18/2004 : 03:45:08 Can change my four-word self-description on PCs but can't change it on Macs. Can this be easily fixed or is the easiest way to fix it for Mac users to head to public PCs when they want to play around with this stuff?

DT: Replaced the toy several months ago. Much better now. Hey, you're amazing too!

So, can we put away the My-OS-is-better-than-your-OS debate long enough to deal with why trying to update one's details gets an "invalid image format" error, even if one did not upload an image, like the original poster asked?
I can't see any reason that should be a Mac vs. PC issue.
It's not a Mac/PC issue...it's happened to me occassionally on a PC. Seems to be random.

It can best be fixed by replacing that toy you have with a real computer.

I think we've discussed this issue in a few threads now and at last theory, it WAS an OS problem in that it's to do with how Windows (or perhaps IE) saves website images as bitmaps sometimes.
The simplest fix seemed to be allowing bitmap images to be uploaded also, which has been done.
Let me know if you still have problems though.

Yeah, we cool kids actually like long hunts for rare and expensive compatible hardware. All part of the coolness adventure. Indiana Jones would've owned a Mac.

Funny I heard benj saying "Mac" stands for "backwards PC".

No worries, though. I accepted a while ago that the site doesn't quite work on Macs as well as it does on PCs.
I'm with you, though. Assuming I ever actually get my own computer, I would as likely buy a P.C. as, say, decide that apostrophes looked nice in plurals.
Don't get me started on the sort of people that buy Macs...

Talking about PC problems, my 2 year old Sony Vaio Laptop blew the LCD screen. Lucky I took extended warranty on it. I am stuck on a little P2 laptop that I bought ($80 ) second hand for my wife for the next 2 weeks.
Don't get me started on PC problems- my mobile phone/ personal organiser (which I approve a large number of reviews on) was on the the receiving end of my arse and the pavement when I attempted a 180 over a curb in my skates whilst seven pints drunk. Upshot- sent away for two weeks and 150 less well off
Maybe you need to find yourself a good skate instructor
Grrr!!!
