This sounds like an ISP caching issue. I've no idea how to do a full refresh (i.e., a refresh from host server, not the nearest cache) on a Mac, but with a real computer (a PC ) it's ctrl-F5. It will have been changed at source (at fwfr) but someone somewhere else on the planet will be caching and giving you the older version to save bandwidth.quote: Personally it is going to be too much hassle to take part in the avatar contests whose site also fails to recognise JPGs on a Mac.
This is easy to fix. Take a sledgehammer. And a Mac. There, fixed! |

Give it a try anyway, you have nothing to lose. Personally it is going to be too much hassle to take part in the avatar contests whose site also fails to recognise JPGs on a Mac. |

Posted - 05/13/2006 : 13:00:03 In my experience using IE usually bridges the gap between proper computers (Macs) and popular desktop toys (PCs). I haven't used IE for a while because it is slow, memory hogging and unreliable like most Micro$oft offerings but occasionaly I will fire it up to get around PC oriented sites.
I don't think I tried uploading GIFS or JPGs via IE but can confirm that legitimate files with correct suffixes saved via Quicktime, Photoshop or any industry standard are not recognised here through other browsers. The workaround I used was to save my image as a bitmap file (.BMP) and that works fine.
No problems saving 'Myself in four words' on Mac. I use Mozilla as my browser of choice (older pre OSX version of Firefox) and Opera is not bad either. |

No. I usually only use Slimbrowser but I have IE, Opera and Firefox too. You never know...

Yep it's auitomatic- I log in, select which fourums to archive and then it does it automatically I don't archive this fourum, though, since it contains questions and stuff people might want to keep coming back to. |

Seems funny to find a current thread with posts in it from Slippy Tin. Another one who got away |

Posted - 12/01/2005 : 21:11:41 I was pretty sure Firefox would work, so when it didn't I thought there was some kind of firewall issue here at work. But you're right, IE did the trick.
My usual browser is Opera, but lately I've had some Gmail issues so I keep Firefox running, too. |

I use Firefox all the time, but when I upload pictures to FWFR, nine out of ten times I have to resort to the old standby--IE. |
