Read that nearly 50% of the world's 634 primate species and subspecies are in danger of going extinct. The situation is most dire in Asia, where more than 70% could disappear forever in the near future.

Posted - 08/03/2008 : 18:33:01 I shall probably need to miss this one. I just came by to explain my absence last week and failure to vote. We seem to have been hit by a virus. The PC had to be wiped clean and it took until this morning to get back on to the internet.
But here's a lesson for us all, children: without our external hard drive we'd have lost everything including 11 years of diaries. Back up that stuff!
I probably need to explain this avatar. She's demonstrating the use of nettles to make underwear, believe it or not. I like the use of renewable fibres, and it's great for the environment to develop alternatives to the use of fibres derived from fossil fuels.
And what's more, it doesn't sting you! |

Am I seeing that correctly, Larry, is that from a Monty Python skit? I was thinking of The Bureau of Funny Walks.
Good job, folks. :)
Hey, that must be Lassie in the poster shown with Lady Bird. See kids, Lassie is putting trash in the waste basket. If Lassie does it, you should too.
Yes, that's from Python's Ministry of Silly Walks skit. I like yours, too -- although it would be funnier if Lassie was putting LadyBird in the trash. |

Ohmigosh. First I saw Wildhart's avatar and thought, "Oh I LOOOOOOVE 'Bein' green,' that will be my choice."
Then I saw Larry's avatar and now I'm really cornfuzzled as to which to choose for my number one vote. Am I seeing that correctly, Larry, is that from a Monty Python skit? I was thinking of The Bureau of Funny Walks.

Cheese, I think you can upload to fwiffer.com now. Let me know if not.

Posted - 07/31/2008 : 05:42:47 Taken from Ben & Jerry's Website - meet an environmentally sound Chocolate Ice Cream:
"As the main course in our ongoing Lick Global Warming campaign, Dave’s Magic Brownies combines the spirit of Dave Matthews Band, the razzle of chocolate and raspberries, and the conscience of Mother Earth in one place. A portion of every sale of Dave Matthews Band Magic Brownies goes to Dave Matthews Band’s Bama Works Fund to support the work of nonprofit groups taking action against global warming. In 2005, this flavor produced royalties of $79,682 for Bama Works. (Dave’s Magic Brownies replaced One Sweet Whirled as our Lick Global Warming campaign flavor in 2005. The last few pints we sold of One Sweet Whirled paid an additional $5,491 in royalties to Bama Works in 2005.)" |
