Posted - 02/11/2011 : 23:08:50 I saw that TitanPa was following the 30 day Song Challenge on facebook, and I thought I'd adapt this for FWFR. It's a simple idea - every day you do it, the theme changes. Just pick a movie to match the theme. Start at any time, but start with day 1, and work your way through all 30 days. Add explanations/reasons if you wish. Oh, by the end of it, you might have 30 extra reviews. Try not to repeat movies if at all possible.
The themes are:
day 01 - your favourite movie day 02 - your least favourite movie day 03 - a movie that makes you happy day 04 - a movie that makes you sad day 05 - a movie that reminds you of someone day 06 - a movie that reminds you of somewhere day 07 - a movie that reminds you of a certain event day 08 - a movie that you would like to have written day 09 - a movie that has a great musical soundtrack day 10 - a movie that makes you fall asleep day 11 - a movie from your favourite actor day 12 - a movie from an actor you hate day 13 - a movie that is a guilty pleasure day 14 - a movie that no one would expect you to love day 15 - a movie that describes you day 16 - a movie that you used to love but now hate day 17 - a movie that you often see on TV/DVD day 18 - a movie that you wish you could see on TV day 19 - a movie from your favourite director day 20 - a movie that makes you angry day 21 - a movie with a character that you would want to be day 22 - a movie with a character that you wouldn't want to be day 23 - the first movie you ever saw at the cinema day 24 - a movie that you want people to watch at your funeral day 25 - a movie that makes you laugh day 26 - a movie that's really old, that you like day 27 - a movie that you gave up on half way through day 28 - a movie that wish you hadn't seen day 29 - a movie from your childhood day 30 - a movie with an actor who you would want to play you in a movie |

Posted - 03/13/2011 : 16:25:47 day 29 - a movie from your childhood
The 1960 animated version of Gullivers Travels. They put it on TV when I was about 6 and we had just gotten a colour television so I remember my parents let me invite three of my friends over to see it in colour (if I recall correctly they were Julie Hacker, Toby Richman and Barbara Merrar).
Day 30 - a movie with an actor who you would want to play you in a movie can I take a young version of someone? If so, Ill go with Debbie Reynolds from when she played The Unsinkable Molly Brown. If not, I'll go with Ginnifer Goodwin from He's Just Not That Into You. She's bubbly enough but also with just enough doubt about herself, while heading straight into situations that can be problematic - often without thinking, and also far too often by saying far too much - that makes her very much like me.
And that sums up my 30 days.
Thanks to Chris - this was fun.

Ditto!
Day 30 - a movie with an actor who you would want to play you in a movie Boop-Oop-A-Doop starring the great Betty Boop! Why? Raunchy, adorable, fearless, cleverer than she looks, mostly independent, honest and true. Oh, yeah, and modest

I found this one the hardest to find an answer for. In the end, I'm going for Sex, Lies, and Videotape - James Spader. As with Larry's choice, he looks nothing like me (fortunately for him), but a bit of make-up and some decent acting might just get him there.
That's all from me. Thanks for joining in, folks, it's been fun.
Feel free to post other categories that you think should/could have been put in the list. |

The Deer Hunter
Although he resembles me in almost no way, Christopher Walken nearly shares a birthday with me... he's four days younger.

Disney's Cinderella. I was 8 or 9 and awakening to the promise of perfect romance. I could not, not, not understand why my hair didn't sway like the cartoon's leading lady. I just loved it all, not having yet learned how demeaning it was to women. It was probably also the first time I could fully appreciate the jokes, especially in the characters of Gus-Gus and Jacques the mice.

The Nightmare Before Christmas was my favorite film from age 10 to about age 12. It then fell out of favor for me for a few years until I rediscovered it when I was about 18 until about 22. Since age 22, I now appreciate it more for its film technique than for its story, although I may rediscover it again in a few years. One never knows. Movies like The Nightmare Before Christmas are a mirror; it reminds you of how you have matured and allows you to reflect back on your thoughts and dreams. |

Day 29 - A movie from your childhood: The Living Desert My first documentary, at age ten, made a tremendous impact on me.

FLehh ... I don't even know what that means! Why would I wish I hadn't done something that I did. It all adds to the soup that is ... Moi? Je ne regrette rien!

I dunno. Something bad. I'll go with Slackers (2002). Read Ebert's zero star review for more info on this forgettable film. |

Breaking the Waves I did plan to see it all, even though I could tell pretty fast in that I didn't like it. But then there was something about the camerawork that made me feel like I was going to throw up. So I had to break my rule of not walking out on a film.
Of course, it's a lot easier to make that decision when you don't have to pay for them. An existential choice ... I like it!!
