T'is the season to be jolly, so let's get seasonal with the classic Miracle On 34th Street.

I have in mind the 1947 version, but anyone who wants to do the 1994 version instead, well, be my Christmas guest.

Abbreviated rules borrowed from here to encourage some new entrants ....

The Rules

The first line of a haiku poem has five syllables.
The second line has seven syllables.
The third, and final, line has five syllables.

The Movie Haiku Contest (MHC) is open to every member of the FWFR site.

To enter, all you have to do is think of a Haiku for the current movie, then post into the current thread. Simple as that. Also, haikus may be risque, but nothing explicit please.

Only one entry per person as per The Blevins Rule. However, you are allowed to edit your existing entry until 9pm Tuesday FWFR time. *

Voting.

If you have entered the MHC, then you have to vote. If you do not vote, you'll lose 3 points from your total, even if you are Sludge and its your birthday. This could mean the difference between the adoration and envy of your fellow Fwiffers or being the feckless butt of our jokes!

You do not have to enter an MHC to vote. Vote away. It'll be like a lurker vote!

---------------------------------

For each round, you get to vote for your three favourite haikus. The voting is as follows:

3 pts fwfr a
2 pts fwfr b
1 pt fwfr c
--------------------------------

You may vote only once
You cannot vote for yourself.
You can vote for the previous winner

You vote by sending me your votes in a PM (Private Message) HERE, to Me. I'll resent it, but do it anyway.

When the voting deadline ends (9pm Wednesday 19DEC FWFR time - brought forward by popular demand), the votes are tallied and the top three places are announced.

That, Rocky, is what I was afraid of.

Since you are doing such a good job both in composing and administering, Whip, you deserve to continue.

OK, heres the results youve all been waiting for:

We have a tie for 2nd place!

With ten points each, we have BaftaBabe (3,3,2,2) and Rockfsh (3,3,2,1,1). Big round of applause ladies and gentlemen please!

And our winner is, with 12 points, suspiciously the person who tallied up the votes again, Whippersnapper (3,3,2,2,2).

(Personally I thought Rockfshs haiku was superb and deserved to win, but Im beginning to think that this is all a gag, leaving me to think up yet another film for the coming week! )

You can all congratulate me below, or write alternative haikus or complain about the result. It's up to you.

So wise for one so young.

I'm for celebrating this little holiday we call Christmas.

I think it's going to catch on, actually.

Merry, Merry everyone.

EM :)

OK, all our haiku writers have voted. I'll leave the result until 9pm in case any lurkers would like to have their say too.

Oh yeah, I meant to ask, do you guys think the deadline for the next Haiku should be 26DEC, or should we change it? Maybe a 2 week deadline instead to allow for the Xmas break?

Whatcha think you guys?

Yeah, I sure would welcome a slight break from the haiku rigor - before rigor sets in

I guess for that mistake I'll lose a couple of marx!

As my artistic licence was only provisional, and has several endorsements already and actually expired the end of last month, I have amended my haiku accordingly.

It's just a shame some of us have no poetry in their hearts.

Except that, the poem works better this way, if you ask me.

(And since I'll be voting, then technically, you are asking me.)
