There Will Be Blood
Rules here in just a second.
Abbreviated rules borrowed from here to encourage some new entrants ....
The Rules
The first line of a haiku poem has five syllables. The second line has seven syllables. The third, and final, line has five syllables.
The Movie Haiku Contest (MHC) is open to every member of the FWFR site.
To enter, all you have to do is think of a Haiku for the current movie, then post into the current thread. Simple as that. Also, haikus may be risque, but nothing explicit please.
Only one entry per person as per The Blevins Rule. However, you are allowed to edit your existing entry until 9pm Tuesday FWFR time. *
Voting.
If you have entered the MHC, then you have to vote. If you do not vote, you'll lose 3 points from your total, even if you are Sludge and its your birthday. This could mean the difference between the adoration and envy of your fellow Fwiffers or being the feckless butt of our jokes!
You do not have to enter an MHC to vote. Vote away. It'll be like a lurker vote!
---------------------------------
For each round, you get to vote for your three favourite haikus. The voting is as follows:
3 pts fwfr a 2 pts fwfr b 1 pt fwfr c --------------------------------
You may vote only once You cannot vote for yourself. You can vote for the previous winner
You vote by sending me your votes in a PM (Private Message) to me.
When the voting deadline ends (9pm Wednesday 21 may FWFR time), the votes are tallied and the top three places are announced
And remember cheaters sometimes come first but in their heart they are always losers or end up running a counttry for eight years.

I didn't expect anyone to vote for my entry this week. It's pretty transparent that it is not a "proper" entry although, please note, its the best I can do if people will choose films I haven't seen. That I couldn't make a proper entry is not my fault.
But you are wrong, so I will correct you. If you look at the rules which are posted at the top of every competition, you'll see that not voting is not grounds for disqualification but a 3pt penalty, which should, this week, assure me of a score of -3.
I can't see why the rest of you cannot go ahead and vote though.

Posted - 05/21/2008 : 14:38:12 Uhm - unless we get at least another last minute entry - it's pointless for anyone to vote ... because if Whipper won't vote, we can't really count his haiku-ed explanation that he hasn't seen the film as a proper entry. Can we? And, correct me if I'm wrong, but if someone doesn't vote, doesn't that render his/her haiku out-of-competition?
I know we've lost a week ... but should we maybe pick another filum and start again?

As I haven't seen the film I will not be voting.

sorry for choosing a too recent filum. I was responding to Em's request and didn't think about who had seen it and who may not have seen it...I'll be more careful next time.

I'll see it when I get a chance Em.
My point is that some of us wait until films come out on DVD or premium film channels before we see them, and that's why I don't like the selection of films for haikuization which haven't got that far down the line.
There's only about half a dozen of us writing haikus, so excluding people is something to be avoided when possible.
Gotcha. It's on DVD here. Not there, yet?
EM :)
DVD??
I've been waiting for it to be released on Betamax.

You're right Rock, my title's better than the film's.
And, having checked IMDB, no, the film hasn't been made yet.
I'm starting on the screenplay tomorrow morning.
Don't have it be about a guy who drills for oil and goes slightly insane along the way, because that story is taken.
Not sure what you have against "There Will Be Blood", Whip, but if you haven't seen it, it is surely worth a viewing.
