Posted - 04/16/2009 : 04:01:22 Here's another classic that is ripe for Haiku-ing:
The Ten Commandments (1956)
The Rules
A Haiku is written as follows:
The first line of a haiku poem has five syllables. The second line of a haiku poem has seven syllables. The third, and final, line of a haiku poem has five syllables.
The Movie Haiku Contest (MHC) is open to every member of the FWFR site.
To enter, think of a Haiku for the current movie, then post into the current thread. Haikus may be risque, but nothing explicit please.
Only one entry per person. However, you are allowed to edit your existing entry until 9pm Tuesday FWFR time.
Voting.
If you have entered the MHC, then you have to vote. If you do not vote, you'll lose 3 points from your total.
You do not have to enter an MHC to vote. Vote away.
---------------------------------
For each round, you get to vote for your three favourite MHC. The voting is as follows:
3 pts - 1st place 2 pts - 2d place 1 pt - 3d place
--------------------------------
You cannot vote for yourself. You can vote for the previous winner
You vote by sending the currently designated Haiku Meister (me, this week) your votes in a PM (Private Message).
You may vote only once.
When the voting deadline ends (9pm Wednesday FWFR time), the votes are tallied and the top three places are announced.
*After winners are announced, the floor is open for posting of alternate Movie Haikus under that topic heading.
The winner is then allowed to make an acceptance speech (if he/she so wants to), and then must choose the movie for the next MHC contest. The winner will post the new movie as a new topic under Movie Haikus in this format:

Count now the Haiku Votes and be reminded that blood is thicker than water but in third place with 10 votes (3,2,1,1,1,1,1) was the
SLUDGE!
And be not confused that though it never rains in California, sometimes there will be flakes, putting in second place with 12 points (3,3,3,2,1) you will find the
CALMER!
And the lesson to be learned is that the Calmer comes just before 13 points (3,2,2,2,2,2) so that in first place you have
MguyX!
And so it was written that from that day forward for one week, MguyX would choose the next movie to Haiku and collect the votes for the next contest.
And it was good.
