Posted - 08/12/2010 : 07:52:55 If you haven't seen it, you've got a couple of days to do so and enter this contest. Also, you may escape the ridicule of your friends who already have AND KNOW THAT YOU'RE A LOSER FOR NOT SEEING THE MOST BITCHINEST MOVIE OF THE YEAR!
Inception (2010)
Abbreviated rules .... (Nice touch, clay!)
The first line of a haiku poem has five syllables. The second line has seven syllables. The third, and final, line has five syllables.
The Movie Haiku Contest (MHC) is open to every paid-up member of the FWFR site. If you have not paid your yearly subscription, now is a convenient time. Please leave your name, address, bank name, account number, personal ID and password just below your haiku and it will be taken care of for you.
To enter, create a Haiku for the current movie, post into the current thread. That's not hard.
Haikus may be risqu. We encourage it. In fact, the most successful haikus in FWFR Haiku Contest history have involved anal odes, vaginal verse, penile pentameter, and toenails (yes, toenails). Why? Because we can't get enough of it. Really. It's not like the interweb just has it laying around for all to see: we need it, here, on our family-friendly site too. Do you get the picture?
Only one entry per person. Personally, I think the minimum number of entries should be 17 per person; but Joe Blevins came up with this rule, and others have named the rule after him. So if you have a problem with the one-man-one-verse rule, hey, fuck you, talk to Joe, man, cuz I'm out of it! You may, however, edit your existing entry until 9pm next Tuesday FWFR time.
Voting.
Once you enter the MHC, you may never leave (so you may as well vote). If you enter but don't vote, you are super freakin lame. I'm taking 3 points away from lame people just on GP ("general purpose").
You do not have to enter an MHC to vote. Vote anyway. (Wait for it . . . wait for it . . . wait for it . . .) It'll be just like a lurker vote!
For each round, you get to vote for your three favourite haikus. The voting is as follows:
3 pts fwfr a 2 pts fwfr b 1 pt fwfr c --------------------------------
You may vote only once. You may not vote for yourself.
You vote by sending me your votes in a PM (Private Message) HERE, to Me. I get the votes you send. Me.
When the voting deadline ends (9pm Thursday 18AUG FWFR time), some lucky dog is gonna get a bone, and it could be YOU!
Now somebody pinch me; am I dreaming? |

Posted - 08/18/2010 : 22:06:57 Winners and controversy. I accidentally wrote "Thursday 18AUG" when I meant "Wednesday 18AUG" as the deadline. As a result, I will not declare the missing voter totally freakin lame and will not deduct lameness points for being late (which would not have mattered anyway). I will, however, scowl at the fact that I did not get a near instantaneous reply upon my gentle reminder PM.
So how did we do?
In third place, with a total score of 5 (32) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . yeah, the missing voter's votes might have moved someone else into this slot, but hey, fuck you, this guy's dreamy . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . clay! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . In second place, with 11 votes (322211) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . mathematically he could not be touched for the second place spot, even if he was sleeping . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . zeike! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . And our first place dream boat . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . with a score of 17 (333332) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . a near landslide, even if I were to deduct lameness points (which I won't, because arguably it could be my fault! Yes, I know I am perfect, but it's in my contract to make little gaffes in order to maintain accessibility), the living nightmare of all haiku contestants . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . SLUDGE!!!!!!
Wake up, buddy! Time to rise and shine on us with a new film! |

Posted - 08/18/2010 : 05:57:32 Woke up, inexplicably changed my votes, and sent them in.
Then I woke up, defibbed my shot cat, and voted.
Then I woke up in First Class on a 747 and said the hell with it. Voted from my laptop just as we landed. |

Posted - 08/18/2010 : 04:13:03 No you didn't: I just entered late, which means I probably screwed myself out of any votes if I was getting any in the first place. No problem: voting is your birthright! Vote when you want, man: this is the internet! |
