What do they mean? You can click on them, and an x will appear to the left, and one of the bars will be lit up, and there's that dot to the right.....what do they mean?

Ratings. You can rate the film. Look at the java script at the bottom of the page (if you're using IE and have the status bar enabled under view). Also, if you let your mouse linger on the bar, there should be a mouse-over pop-up.

They are your own personal rating of the film on a scale of 1 to 5, 5 being best (the left-most bar is a 1, the right-most bar is a 5). The red X removes the rating.

Hi Andrew, welcome to the fourum.
The 2 fine gentlemen above forgot to tell you about the dot.
The dot is for flagging films, you can use it to flag films that you want to review, watch, buy, not watch, whatever you want.

Gave you a vote to get you started

Welcome Andrew! Hoarding is OK along as you're generous to the rest of us. (hint hint)

That's right. I've voted for all of your review(s) so I expect the favour to be returned. Vote here on my 3074 reviews.
On a more serious note welcome to the Fourum. Feel free to join in some of our silly games (you'll notice many of our Avatars change weekly to match the current competition).
And remember there is no such thing as a silly question (unless benj has answered it in great detail in the FAQ section of the Fourum).

Hoarding votes received is fine. Just don't hoard votes to cast. They're like Warm Fuzzies, and no one's proved there's a shortage yet.
