Story time: Back around 2000 or so, soaked in Y2k overtime bonuses my family went to Disney World. The "cast" there have nametags that list not only their first name, but their hometown. The check-in clerk at the Disney accommodations we were staying at listed Roswell, NM as her home town. Now I'm sure that 90% of people interacting with her never noticed her town, and 90% of the people who did made some reference to UFO's, Area 51 or aliens.
"Roswell, New Mexico" I said to her, and you could see her wait to gamely laugh at some lame little green men joke she must have heard a thousand times. "Hometown of Demi Moore", I added.
Well, the smile and joy that must have earned her the job in the first place came right through! "Omigod! How did you know that! My brother went to school with her!" I have no idea how I knew that. You could name a thousand other actors bigger than Demi Moore and I couldn't name the home town of one of them. With some obscure piece of trivia I had made her day. It felt wonderful.

Thoughts: Wow, I never thought I would get upset that they butchered a novel that I didn't enjoy one second when I was forced to read it in 11th grade, but GODDAMN. What a terrible, awful movie. |

Thanks  , but I knew it wouldn't win. I've never been able to get even a top 3 placing on any spouse-based FWTO, and I've submitted 4 or 5. |
