In honor of the upcoming 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, I thought it would be funny to show some Olympic Events that have been rejected over the years.
A couple of years ago the this event was banned after the equipment closed on an athlete during a trial run.

Once again the IOC has nixed coffee breaks during the gymnastic competitions at the Summer Games. |

I heard that the High Jump was rejected for the Penguin Olympics as it ruffled too many feathers. |

Yet again, a popular team sport is denied the chance to compete. The authorities reckon those naked breasts would frighten the public.

Women's Beer Triathalon In this event topless women would ride in a bike race, swim, and run a marathon, all the while holding a can of beer between their breasts. The first to cross the finish and chug-a-lug the beer would be declared the Gold medalist.

Members of the Uruguayan javelin foot-catch team console a team mate who was warming up when it was announced that the IOC has denied their sport access to the biggest international sports stage available, again. |

American Football was rejected...
as was Colby Football, Gorgonzola Football, Pepper Jack Football, etc.
Obviously Wisconsin needs to make larger "contributions" to the IOC. |

Y'know, my avatar is already a Rejected Olympic Event. It's an illustration of the fine art of "rock golf". |

I have a slight suspicion, nothing more, that some of you have been making up events that were never seriously considered.
Call me a purist, but I felt I should start by looking at the events that were actually rejected for inclusion in the Vancouver Winter Olympics:
Biathlon mixed relay (sounds like fun, but you probably get cold) Mixed doubles curling (the wife in the traditional role of sweeping, presumably [oh bugger, accusations of sexism now almost inevitable]) Team alpine skiing (who could object to that? Team bobsled and skeleton (the latter got my creative juices not flowing exactly but bubbling gently) Team luge (I have no idea...) Women's ski jumping (I now know that this one went to court; apparently this was perfectly fair gender discrimination) |

This sport is more difficult than it looks; the aim is to drop two hard, rounded objects into two seperate receptacles at precisely the same time.
It was almost introduced at the 1984 Los Anegles Olympics, but was rejected following an incient involving the world Synchronised Toilet Golf champion and a vindaloo curry |
