Alan Shepard and Sam Shepard is the easy bit.

Then there's the fact that Sam played Chuck Yeager in that film, and Chuck Yeager actually plays another part.

What do Federico Fellini, Bob Fosse and Franco Zeffirelli
all have in common (among a few others, I'm sure)?

Did I make this too difficult? If I add that Woody Allen probably belongs in this group but would deny it, would that help?

Still no takers? What if I add Catherine Breillat and Cameron Crowe
to the list?

Is it that they've all made films loosely based on their own lives?

Must be Meryl Streep as Lindy Chamberlain, accused of murdering her baby which was taken by a dingo in the outback. Film was called A Cry in the Dark in the UK and Evil Angels in the US.

In what film did the director take a Hitchcockian cameo as a reporter, referencing the credits which were cunningly disguised in newspaper stories?
