Posted - 01/07/2010 : 15:34:54 In honor of the upcoming 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, I thought it would be funny to show some Olympic Events that have been rejected over the years.
A couple of years ago the this event was banned after the equipment closed on an athlete during a trial run.

Posted - 01/14/2010 : 02:00:50 I voted for ya, MguyX. Although I must say, I thought the gratuituous use of a boobies picture would fare better than that! Write me for her phone number! |

Posted - 01/14/2010 : 00:21:10 I am stunned, shocked, taken aback, in shock, and stunned. Thank you my brethren and cisterns; I am humbled and really feel that livie should have given me the phone number to that spectacular athelete won.
Now what? |

Posted - 01/13/2010 : 20:15:51 By the way, I think I've discovered another Winter Olympics rejected event, a little too late for this contest:

They probably thought it was a good use for a frozen canal. After all, it wasn't doing anything very useful before they arrived. |

I have a feeling that another event will be rejected shortly, ending my short spell of nirvana: the playing of RAMONES Live, January 7, 1978 at the Palladium, NYC (at a little over 40dB(A)). Such are the compromises of married life. |

Posted - 01/09/2010 : 07:41:38 This sport is more difficult than it looks; the aim is to drop two hard, rounded objects into two seperate receptacles at precisely the same time.
It was almost introduced at the 1984 Los Anegles Olympics, but was rejected following an incient involving the world Synchronised Toilet Golf champion and a vindaloo curry |

Posted - 01/08/2010 : 19:55:54 I have a slight suspicion, nothing more, that some of you have been making up events that were never seriously considered.
Call me a purist, but I felt I should start by looking at the events that were actually rejected for inclusion in the Vancouver Winter Olympics:
Biathlon mixed relay (sounds like fun, but you probably get cold) Mixed doubles curling (the wife in the traditional role of sweeping, presumably [oh bugger, accusations of sexism now almost inevitable]) Team alpine skiing (who could object to that? Team bobsled and skeleton (the latter got my creative juices not flowing exactly but bubbling gently) Team luge (I have no idea...) Women's ski jumping (I now know that this one went to court; apparently this was perfectly fair gender discrimination) |

Posted - 01/08/2010 : 14:31:27 American Football was rejected...
as was Colby Football, Gorgonzola Football, Pepper Jack Football, etc.
Obviously Wisconsin needs to make larger "contributions" to the IOC. |
