Here's your chance to pay poetic tribute to the first animated feature from the workshop of Walt Disney. Released in 1937 it was awarded an Honorary Oscar - which came in the form of one traditional statuette accompanied by seven miniature versions. They're wild and crazy down there at the Academy.

So pick up that pick-axe, whistle a happy tune, eat an apple a day, and go kiss your prince/ss ...

yes, folks, it's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

DA ROOLZ
Here are the rules again.
Abbreviated rules borrowed from here to encourage some new entrants ....

The Rules

The first line of a haiku poem has five syllables.
The second line has seven syllables.
The third, and final, line has five syllables.

The Movie Haiku Contest (MHC) is open to every member of the FWFR site.

To enter, all you have to do is think of a Haiku for the current movie, then post into the current thread. Simple as that. Also, haikus may be risque, but nothing explicit please.

Only one entry per person as per The Blevins Rule. However, you are allowed to edit your existing entry until 9pm Tuesday FWFR time. *

Voting.

If you have entered the MHC, then you have to vote. If you do not vote, you'll lose 3 points from your total. This could mean the difference between the adoration and envy of your fellow Fwiffers or being the feckless butt of our jokes!

You do not have to enter an MHC to vote. Vote away. It'll be like a lurker vote!

Wow! Call a fairy tale character a "Ho" and win it all, huh?

Thank you.

Let me think on a new movie for us.

I might have to start it up tomorrow.

Wait. I thought of one. It's up now. Enjoy.

Without further ado - and sadly without Beanie too ...

In third place with 7 votes [2,3,2] is that cute lil newbie
Rockfsh - Take a bow, kid!

In 2nd place with a sweet 9 points [1,2,2,3,1] is the seminal Sludge. Rocking!

And, the winner, this week as in so many weeks past ... with a nice round 10 points [3,2,1,3,1]the unstoppable Montgomery. To the winner, the spoils ... so go spoil yourself rotten

Speech and a nice tidy announcement of our next challenge at your leisure.

Please remember to keep Whipper happy and post ALL da roolz.

That's Foxboy - cruel but fair.

I've just messaged Bean.

I mean...

I wrote a Beanmemo!

I think this is why the other games have a stronger pace, Foxboy (or whoever hosts) messages reminders every time, and if you're out, you're out and the game moves on without you.

I really cannot understand why some people have a problem with giving a voting deadline.

I'd like the haiku competition to have a clear deadline for voting and then, with a few hours leeway to avoid being officious, I'd like the votes tallied up and announced so we can get on with the next competition.

The supposed courtesy of waiting for late voters is, in fact, a discourtesy to everyone else.

In future can we please NOT take out of the first post the voting deadline? Had it been left there in the first place we probably would not have this problem now.

Voted from a grey and miserable hotel room in the grey and miserable city of Shenzhen

Friends, Romans, Beanmimo and Bife!
Send me your votes!!!

It won't be giving anything away to say that at this critical stage there's a TIE. So B&B, send in those votes. You've got the power!

PS Thanks to everyone else.

Whippersnapper. Posted - 05/22/2007 : 16:12:25

Haiku, haiku, I've done the same as you...

Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to vote I go
Whippersnapper. Posted - 05/22/2007 : 00:02:00

So, our Haiku entries are:

Bife

"Hi ho, hi ho, it's
a Haiku poem we do",
sang seven small men

Rockfsh

Oh mirror mirror
Who's the fairest of them all?
Ah, my Queen, not you

Sludge

Before dwarves were tossed
'cross the forest, Snow was lost
one apple - she's sauced

Tortoise

Mirror's beauty tip:
youthful pale complexion gets
workmen whistling.

Whippersnapper

Afterwards we learned
It's all a stunt to get the
Prince to propose. Dames!

Montgomery

One woman lives with
Seven small men in one house.
And they said, "Hi, Ho!"

Beanmimo

Enchanted Mirror
names Snow White for Queen (who is
rotten to the core)

BaftaBabe

Dopey, Sleepy, Doc,
Happy, Bashful, Sneezy hide
Snow White from evil.

Montgomery Posted - 05/21/2007 : 19:39:48
