While a plethora of ideas come to mind, I'm going to go seriously this round, though I don't expect to win. The charities nearest and dearest to my heart and life are the ones that benefit those with developmental disabilities, including Special Olympics. |

You can't win liv because you don't qualify for the Special Olympics, duh!
O.K., with that joke I seal my loss, but I charitably give you Freebush. |

Mr. LaMar, to whom I was once married, had a best man whose brother had Down's Syndrome, who would only eat homemade mashed potatoes and Pepsi. When they were dressing for the wedding, the brother kept saying "Oh Brudd-ah, you're funnneeee!!!" |

The flippant take:
Pot for charity? That'll bring a smile to many faces.
The worthy & serious take: quote: Our newest hand and body lotion is made with fairly traded, skin-softening cocoa butter and almond oil to make your skin feel lovely and has a scent youll want to sniff all day long. Its worth every penny. Talking of which, every penny that you pay for it (not including the VAT which we have to give to the exchequer to pay for things like schools, hospitals and speed cameras) will go into our Lush Charity Pot Fund. Each time you buy a pot itll have a label on it telling you a little story about one of the charities, good causes, and hand-picked groups that we have supported. (Choosing a particular pot doesnt direct the money to that particular group; that would be an administrative horror; youll just have to trust us to pick good ones.) Projects include the Sumatra Orang Utan Society, the Kipungani Schools Trust in Kenya, the Dorset Wildlife Trust, Beirut for The Ethical Treatment of Animals (BETA), the Gordon Charitable Trust, Transport 2000 and Plane Stupid. If youd like to out more about the projects that this money is currently supporting, visit our website at lush.co.uk To tell us about interesting charities or projects which youd like to nominate for our support in future please email [email protected].

This book was written by the same guy who wrote "The Unicorn", "Sylvia's Mother", "A Boy Named Sue" and "Cover of the Rolling Stone". And my personal favourite "Sarah Cynthia Sylvia Snout (Would Not Take The Garbage Out)". |

Ohmygosh, Shel Silverstein! Thank you for posting this: great stuff! The Irish Rovers' performance of The Unicorn is one of my all time great fav songs. 'Cover of the Rolling Stone' is one of my DH's favs. Silverstein's kids books are absolutely wonderful because they're not dumbed down or patronizing at all.
You parents of young kids need to check those out. Listening, bife, foxy? |

It must have been "sweet" to see Christina Applegate star in 'Sweet Charity' on Broadway. |
