This is a real challenge . Its a french film from pre 2000 and i think the title is something like "la vie est belle" but not the recent one.
It tells the story of a typical french vacation at the plage  with the usual ingredients- rented house, infidelity and other hi-jinks. It is told from the point of view of the young daughter.
As with a lot of french films its beatifully shot. I saw it in a french cinema , forgot about it and for some reason it came back to me.
Its a bit of a stretch but does it ring any bells?
