This is my little Mazda MX-5 (known in the USA as a Miata and in Japan as a Eunos). It's getting on a bit, has rust bubbles on the outside and torn seats on the inside, and a couple of the shock absorbers need replacing, but it goes like the clappers and is great fun. If you yearn for a rag top, try one of these before you decide what to buy. Prices have dropped thanks to the greedy bankers (and the recession they caused).

And I quote:
One of the best stories about Emily Carr is that in order to conserve space and to discourage guests, she would suspend chairs from the ceiling of her studio. If she liked you, she would lower a seat. If she didnt, youd just have to stand with Carrs monkey, cats, dogs, squirrels and rats scrabbling around your feet her pet parrot usually remained perched on her shoulder until Carr was finished with you.

One of Canadas great artists and most fascinating characters, Carr was what could charitably be called an eccentric. An oddment and a natural-born solitaire was how she described herself, contrary from the start.

My favorite car that I ever drove - my Grandpa's 1936 Plymouth Sedan, with suicide doors, horsehair seats, a windshield that opened out from the bottom to let in fresh air, airhorns and the starter pedal next to the gas pedal. He bought new from the factory in early 1936 for $900 and had to wait 6 months to get it. When he died in 1963, it remained the only car he had ever owned or driven. I waited patiently until I was old enough to drive and got to drive it around one memorable summer. Too cool.

I would gladly accept it, except I believe they will give it to Mr. Obama instead (which is cool, as long as he acknowledges my taste in art).

Emily Carr's paintings are not quite still-life, and not quite surreal. But, of my faves, they have an absorbtive feel that lures the admirer into their somehow talkative empty spaces.

Apparently, as a measure to relieve commuter congestion, the proto-type for this flying car was produced in January 2008. Now if we could only figure a way to fuel it using the shredded bodies of bankers.

My favourite car would be one that actually goes. Since mine doesn't, most of the time, I end up walking. Perhaps I should have this one.

Wow. Great story. I imagine $900 was a huge amount of money at the time.

How could you not lick... er... like this car? From http://www.makechocolates.com/trivia.html

quote:
Yes, it's true! A chocolate car made with 800 kilogram, 1800 pounds, or 28,800 ounces of Belgian chocolate! WOW!!

How much Chocolate? 800 kilogram, 1800 pounds, or 28,800 ounces is equal to: 19,200 bars of Hershey's 1.5 oz. Chocolate Symphony or
9,600 bars of Lindt 3 oz. Chocolate.

The chocolate car is the same size as an actual Opel (European car). A whole new meaning of "Fahrvergngen". 5 Chocolatiers were working on this car for 4 weeks, from 7 am until 10 pm. The car is made with milk, dark and white chocolate.
